Interactive Brokers (IBKR): research tools and market data

Interactive Brokers provides company research through Fundamentals Explorer, alongside separate documentation for trading permissions and pricing. Use the research interface to locate information, then check the applicable account and product documents before treating that information as tradeable access. Where to find company research in IBKR

IBKR describes Fundamentals Explorer as a company-research interface covering financial information, ratios, analyst views, ownership, news and other reference material. Its documentation links to guides for the different IBKR platforms. The tool is a provider of research inputs, not the original issuer for every item shown. Fundamentals Explorer

When using a number from a research screen, note the named source, period, currency and whether the item is a reported result or a forecast. This is a suggested reading discipline: two values with the same label are not necessarily comparable if they refer to different periods or definitions.

For a company's own disclosure, follow the issuer's filing or investor-relations reference where supplied. The SEC EDGAR guide explains how to locate a US reporting company's original filing.

Research access, market data and trading permissions

Finding an instrument or reading about a company does not establish that your account can trade the instrument. IBKR's account documentation separates permissions by product and country and describes market-data and research subscriptions separately. Trading and Market Data

Use three separate questions in your notes: 'What information am I viewing?', 'Which market-data entitlement applies?' and 'Does the account have the required trading permission?' Do not infer the last answer from the first.

How to read the IBKR fee documentation

The commissions hub distinguishes pricing plans and product schedules. IBKR Pro documentation describes fixed and tiered structures, while applicable conditions and other charges depend on the product and arrangement. This guide does not reproduce a universal per-trade price. Commissions & Fees

Before carrying a fee into research notes, copy the schedule title and state exactly which transaction it describes. Check its minimums, maximums, third-party charges and exclusions. Keep a commission, a data subscription and any financing cost as separate questions instead of treating a headline commission as a complete account-cost estimate.

A documentation note you can reuse

Write one short record: the instrument or company; the IBKR screen or document; the source and period of the data; the account context; and the link used. Add 'not established by this source' for any missing permission or price condition. This is an Orbitrum note-taking suggestion, not an IBKR account-opening procedure.

Questions about IBKR research documentation

Does Fundamentals Explorer replace an original company filing?

No. It is a research interface described by IBKR. A figure or analyst estimate should be read with its source and time period; use the issuer's original filing when the question concerns that filing. Fundamentals Explorer

Does market-data access automatically include trading permission?

Do not assume that it does. IBKR documents data subscriptions and product/country trading permissions as distinct account topics. Verify both where relevant. Account documentation

Is an IBKR Lite or IBKR Pro price universal?

No. The published commission documents contain plan, product and eligibility conditions. Consult the full applicable schedule instead of applying a promotional or summary rate to every account. Commissions & Fees
