Streamr is a distributed computing protocol centered around the DATA token. The DATA token is used to incentivize Operator nodes in the Streamr Network. Operator nodes contribute security and bandwidth to the network by forwarding messages and boosting the connectivity of a data stream. Stream owners, on the other hand, can pay DATA tokens into Sponsorship smart contracts, which then distribute DATA to staked Operators.
