Autonomys Network is a dedicated Layer-1 blockchain that utilizes a novel storage-based consensus mechanism called Proof-of-Archival-Storage (PoAS). Under this mechanism, consensus is decoupled from execution, and block production is governed by the availability of verifiable on-chain data. Participants—referred to as “farmers”—store provably unique, partial replicas of the blockchain’s history on commodity solid-state drives (SSDs).
