ai16z is a DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organization) led by AI agents, aiming to revolutionize venture capital through artificial intelligence and blockchain. It leverages the Eliza framework to enable developers to create autonomous AI agents that execute investments, manage treasury funds, and interact with the community. The $AI16Z token serves both as a governance token (voting on investment decisions) and a utility token (paying fees within the ecosystem). The project aims to become a Layer 1 blockchain for AI applications, reaching a market capitalization of over $2 billion by December 2024. It was rebranded as ElizaOS in January 2025 following a request from Andreessen Horowitz (a16z).
